St Barbara is a patroness saint deeply ingrained in the culture of Upper Silesia. It was chiefly the 19th century that was deciding in this respect, since the process of linking the martyr-woman to the miners’ occupational group was concluded then. The miners’ community played a significant role in the socioeconomic and identityrelated character of the region. Consequently, the cult of St Barbara started to be grafted onto this land towards the end of the 17th century, mainly as a result of founding religious fraternities under the Saint’s vocation by monastic orders already based here. The article was dedicated to one of the prayers – the Litany to Saint Barbara – in a Baroque Polish-language prayer book addressed to this patroness. It was published in Wrocław in 1747 by the Jesuit order for a fraternity dedicated to Saint Barbara, who was then treated as the patron of a happy death. This confraternity was established in Tarnowskie Góry as the third one in Upper Silesia. However, for the recruitment of members from various regions of Silesia and the fi rst binding of the brotherhood to the mining community, he is given pioneer signifi cance. The project analyzed in this paper by the critical and digital redrawing is the House on Niegolewskiego Street of 1927–28, designed by Barbara Sokołowska for her and her husband, Stanislaw Brukalski, inspired by the Neoplasticism ideas, the paintings of Mondrian and De Stijl. In its details the house seems to recall that one in Utrecht by G.T. Rietveld of 1924, with a very large living room, a studio overlooking a double height and a spiral stair connecting the two floors into one space defined by translated planes and pure volumes.
Barbórkowe życzenia, czyli o powinszowaniach z okazji Dnia Górnika

Przedmiotem artykułu są życzenia z okazji „Barbórki” – święta zawodowego pracowników górnictwa, które obchodzone jest 4 grudnia, w dniu wspomnienia św. Barbary. Autorka na podstawie kwerendy czasopism („Trybuny Robotniczej”, „Trybuny Śląskiej”, „Dziennika Zachodniego”, „Wiadomości Rudzkich” i „Trybuny Górniczej”), ukazujących się w latach 1946–2014 w województwie śląskim, analizuje teksty powinszowań kierowane do górników i ich rodzin. Prezentowane życzenia, ich ilość w poszczególnych okresach, także grafika mają bezpośredni związek z warunkami społeczno-politycznymi i gospodarczymi w Polsce. W ostatnich dwóch dekadach można zaobserwować wzrost życzeń „barbórkowych” na łamach prasy.

Il progetto che si intende analizzare attraverso il ridisegno critico digitale è la casa-studio a Niegolewskiego Street di Barbara Sokołowska del 1927-28, progettata per lei e suo marito, Stanislaw Brukalski, ispirata alle idee del Neoplasticismo, ai dipinti di Mondrian e al lavoro De Stijl. Nei suoi dettagli la casa sembra riprendere quella a Utrecht di G.T. Rietveld del 1924, con un soggiorno molto ampio, uno studio che si affaccia su una doppia altezza e una scala a spirale che collega i due ambienti in un unico spazio definito da piani traslati e volumi puri. L’esperienza della trasformazione della clinica Santa Barbara ha messo in evidenza alcuni temi specifici che riguardano il senso del progetto contemporaneo entro le dinamiche divergenti e rizomatiche che caratterizzano il nostro tempo. Dinamiche che ci obbligano a guardare al progetto di architettura come una pratica curatoriale, estesa nel tempo e nello spazio, che può tendere all’unità (anche senza raggiungerla) attraverso azioni prolungate di manutenzione permanente. Pratiche che non hanno nulla a che fare con il facility management ma che riguardano, piuttosto, un paziente lavoro di accumulazione attraverso sfere di azione differenti.E’ possibile dunque, in conclusione enucleare alcuni …
